Aloha! This is a simple, interim website for Kamuela and Kohala Hongwanji Missions. A more fully-featured website is under development. We hope you find the information below helpful in connecting with us. We welcome your participation!
We are affiliated with the statewide Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii.
The Kamuela and Kohala Hongwanji Missions are Shin (Jodo Shinshu) Buddhist temples located in the North of Hawai’i Island. Anyone interested in attending services is invited to contact Reverend Masanari Yamagishi at the main temple in Kamuela.
All are welcomed and encouraged to participate in our temple’s Sunday services. Each service has sutra chanting, recitations, and a dharma message about Shin Buddhism.
